Elevator Fun

I attended  LA’s Bigest Business Networking Mixer the other week at the Shrine Auditorium.  Big Mixers are like Six Flags for moi! Not only did I run into a couple of my online friends but I met LOTS of new associates, and found some new networking groups for the calendar. However a curious thing happened on the way to the auto  I had parked on the top floor of the parking structure (got a spectacular snapshot of the Los Angeles skyline) and at the finish of the mixer, when a quite a few of us piled into the elevator what do you think happened? Nothing! We were all standing there like zombies staring at the floor numbers over the door. I had to do something, so I said..”OKPeople exchange business cards! Who wants to give a quick30 second Speech? Now we are all laughing and getting out their businesscards I held up a bunch of business card and smiled and said, “Who wants the Los Angeles Networking Guide?” Everyone snatched up a business card.   Read more…@ Networking Event Finders Website

Do’s & Don’ts For The Networking Jobseeker

As Governor Schwarzenegger puts it, the “Good, Bad & the Ugly” of the CA budget issue has been decided and it occurs like massive layoffs can be expected here. The “trickle-down economics” of that means your business networking expos are going to see more jobseekers, pink “slip mixers” and career fairs than ever (assuming there are still companies hiring). In conversations I’ve had with networking event hosts across the country, I’ve learned that they are all experiencing a rise in the quantity of people who attend who list themselves as “In Transition”.  Most of these people have been out of the networking loop for a while.
